Common Cause filed complaints with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Election Commission (FEC), alleging reason to believe that President Trump and his campaign, Vice President Pence and his leadership PAC, the Republican National Committee (RNC), and a number of aides violated numerous campaign finance laws by coordinating “soft money” fundraising and spending with the super PAC America First Action (AFA) and the dark money group America First Policies (AFP).

The payment was a corporate in-kind contribution to Donald J. Trump for President Inc., and an unreported expenditure by the committee because the funds were paid by AMI in coordination with an agent of President Trump, Michael Cohen for the purpose of influencing the 2016 Presidential election

Common Cause filed complaints with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Election Commission (FEC), alleging reason to believe that President Trump, his 2016 presidential campaign, and American Media, Inc. (AMI) violated campaign contribution limits and reporting requirements through a December 2015 payment of $30,000 to a former doorman at a Trump property. The complaint alleges that the payment was made to squelch rumors of then-candidate Trump having fathered an illegitimate child with an employee at Trump World Tower in New York.

We allege that the payment of $130,000 to Stephanie Clifford (a.k.a. Stormy Daniels), through an LLC, was an unreported in-kind contribution to President Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign committee, in violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act.

Voting should not be an endurance sport.

We urge representatives Combee and La Rosa to be transparent and accountable with their participation in ALEC.

We've amended our complaint to include President Trump himself as well as his personal attorney Michael Cohen for their roles in what appear to be numerous violations of campaign finance law related to the $130,000 hush money payment to Stephanie Clifford (a.k.a. Stormy Daniels) just weeks before the 2016 election.
