NEW: Times Square Billboard Demands Trump Fire Elon Musk
NEW YORK CITY– Today, Common Cause unveiled a new billboard in New York City’s Times Square demanding President Trump immediately fire Elon Musk and shut down the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The ad comes after Trump made several inaccurate and misleading claims in his presidential address to Congress regarding DOGE’s work to dismantle crucial federal government functions, even thanking Musk by name in his remarks.
“President Trump’s address this week only underscores what we knew all along – Elon Musk is the one really pulling the strings in this puppet presidency,” said Common Cause President & CEO Virginia Kase Solomón. “Americans are rightfully angry that an unelected billionaire who isn’t accountable to anyone but himself is making sweeping decisions that will impact their livelihoods. The longer this dangerous power grab goes on, the worse it will be for our country. It’s time to fire Elon Musk and put the American people first.”
In the last few weeks, Common Cause, Washington’s leading watchdog group, has led the charge to demonstrate how Musk’s unprecedented influence in the White House is hurting the American people. More than 187,993 people nationally have signed onto Common Cause’s Fire Musk Petition, and Common Cause and a coalition of 10 diverse advocacy groups sent a letter to the White House demanding Musk’s removal.
