Legislative Updates
- Both of CCC's sponsored bills, SB 459 and SB 1439, were signed by Governor Newsom!! This is a huge legislative win for transparency and accountability in California!
- SB 1439 bars local elected officials from accepting or soliciting contributions of over $250 from special interests like developers and contractors when those special interests have business before them..
- SB 459 requires additional and more timely disclosures by lobbyists in Sacramento, so we can see who is spending millions to influence our Legislature.
- Neither of the bills that CCC opposed, which would have banned ranked choice voting and made LA County's citizen redistricting commission less representative of the county's population, moved through the legislative process.

Democracy Is! Episode 4 OUT NOW!
Now more than ever, Californians are hearing about recalls and witnessing them happening at all levels of government. In episode 4 of our new podcast, Democracy Is, we explore recalls and examine the history, impact, and relevance of this little-known corner of California’s democracy. We discuss how we can improve the recall process to better serve our political system and our communities.
This episode also features interviews with Joshua Spivak, a Senior Fellow at the Hugh L. Carey Institute for Government Reform, and Sylvia Leong, the current Board Vice President of the Cupertino Union School District.
