Common Cause Submit Comments To NTIA Making Recommendations on Broadband Deployment, Affordability, and Digital Equity Programs 

Today, Common Cause submitted comments in response to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s Request for Comment on the implementation of broadband programs found within the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Implementation. The programs include the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program and Digital Equity Act programs. 

National Republican Party Dangerously Declares January 6 Attack “Legitimate Political Discourse”

January 6 was an insurrection that left people dead and scores of seriously injured in its wake. It was not legitimate political discourse no matter what the GOP says. It was a violent attempt to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election and ignore the will of the people. It was a dangerous and irresponsible attempt to try to intimidate Congress with an angry racist mob assembled and then set loose by a man who had just lost the presidential election.

Common Cause Statement Urging DOJ to Prioritize Investigation of Bomb Threats at Historically Black Colleges

On January 4, 2022, eight Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) received bomb threats. On January 31, 2022, another six HBCUs received bomb threats, and on February 1, 2022, an additional 12 HBCUs received bomb threats.

Today, the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued an opinion upholding California’s net neutrality law. The opinion specifically affirmed state authority to protect internet users. Common Cause California played an active role in supporting the state’s net neutrality law and ensuring its passage.

Our nation is stronger when every one of us has a voice in choosing our elected officials. The fight for voting rights will continue – in the Senate and in statehouses across the country.
