Statement of Jonathan Mehta Stein, California Common Cause Executive Director

“Today’s court ruling is a significant victory for Californians and for internet users across the country. California’s net neutrality law provides strong protections for our state’s residents, prohibiting broadband providers from engaging in discriminatory practices. Broadband providers have proven again and again that adequate oversight is needed or else too many of their customers and our communities get left behind on the technology curve.”

Erklärung von Yosef Getachew, Programmdirektor von Common Cause Media and Democracy

“The court’s ruling also creates a path for other states to enact protections that oversee the broadband marketplace, ensuring that households have unfettered access to broadband, a critical tool needed to participate in today’s democracy. California’s law should also help guide the FCC in setting federal rules for a national net neutrality framework. We need strong federal and state broadband oversight to ensure our digital rights are protected when going online.”
