Gruppen fordern Änderungen bei der Volkszählung, um die Gefängnisbevölkerung für die Neugliederung der Wahlkreise genau zu erfassen

Heute forderten Common Cause und die Prison Policy Initiative das US Census Bureau auf, die Art und Weise zu ändern, wie es die Gefängnisbevölkerung alle zehn Jahre zählt. Der Einsatz von Differential Privacy durch das Bureau, also die absichtliche Einfügung ungenauer Informationen in die Bevölkerungsdaten, führt zu unnötigen Fehlzählungen in den Daten, die von staatlichen und lokalen Behörden zur Neugliederung der Wahlkreise verwendet werden. In einem Brief an Direktor Robert L. Associated Press: New Mexico rolls out same-day voter registration program

Previously, voter registration was halted 28 days before any election as a precaution against possible double-voting while county clerks updated registration rolls painstakingly by hand with paper and ink, said Mario Jimenez, a policy campaign manager with the progressive good-government group Common Cause New Mexico.
