Meet Dan…

Dan Conley is the founder of Beacon Communications, a business-to-business public relations and marketing firm with a global client base of high-profile companies and institutions as well as innovative, emerging enterprises. The firm has published more than five thousand articles for clients in professional, trade and business periodicals, books through McGraw-Hill Professional, Financial Times Publishing, American Bar Association Publishing, Wiley, and Cambridge University Press, and has developed industry-leading surveys and indices.

He joined the National Governing Board in 2012, and currently serves as Chair of Common Cause Illinois.  In 2014 Dan received the Bob Edgar Champions of Democracy Award for his role in helping to rebuild the state organization.  He is also working to develop a wider base of support for Common Cause in Michigan, his home state.

Other board service includes the Adlai Stevenson Center on Democracy, Ruth Page Center for The Arts, and advisory board of the American Health Information Management Association.

Dan also serves as the Board Chair for the innovative NGO Fortify Food. It has the distinction of having worked to commercially address iron deficiency anemia in West Africa through the iron fortification of packaged staple foods which receive wide, reliable and sustainable distribution reaching tens of millions in need.

He is also active providing programming and student employment networking support for the Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan, his alma mater. Dan also contributes to the State of Michigan and local communities through activism in citizen-driven harbor research committees, and development for county long-term care facilities
