Washington — Die überparteiliche Watchdog-Organisation Common Cause hat ihre „Democracy Scorecard“ für 2024 veröffentlicht, in der die Unterstützung jedes Kongressmitglieds für das Wahlrecht, die Ethik des Obersten Gerichtshofs und andere Reformen erfasst wird.

Common Cause hat heute beim Obersten Gerichtshof der Vereinigten Staaten eine Amicus Curiae-Schrift eingereicht, in der das Gericht aufgefordert wird, in der Rechtssache Donald J. Trump gegen die Vereinigten Staaten zügig zu entscheiden, um den Anschein politischer Voreingenommenheit zu vermeiden und ein Verfahren gegen den ehemaligen Präsidenten wegen Verschwörung und Korruption vor einer niedrigeren Instanz noch vor der Präsidentschaftswahl im November zu ermöglichen.

"For those of us who’ve worked in Texas politics for years, it was a huge deal because you almost never see a gubernatorial appointee fail to get confirmed by the state senate," Anthony Gutierrez, executive director of Common Cause Texas, a voting advocacy group, told PolitiFact.
