VIDEO: The Broken Senate

Common Cause brought together thought leaders at the National Press Club to discuss how to restore democracy and fix the filibuster

It’s clear to anyone who’s been paying attention that the Senate is mired in gridlock — and the unconstitutional 60-vote filibuster rule plays a key role in that dysfunction. Yesterday, I moderated a Common Cause panel at the National Press Club featuring Nan Aron, president of Alliance for Justice; Larry Cohen, president of Communications Workers of America; and Norman J. Ornstein, resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research.

We explored how to get Washington working again for the millions of Americans whose needs are being ignored while their representatives play partisan politics. It was a great discussion, and if you didn’t get the chance to see it live, check it out below:
