Fall 2024 Internship Preview

We are excited to recruit interns to work with us during the fall 2024 semester.

Here is a preview of our fall 2024 internship opportunities. Full descriptions will be available on Wednesday, August 14 at www.commoncause.org/internships but for now you can see the key aspects of each position and submit an application. All roles are part time and start on September 16 and end on November 30. Pennsylvania Election Protection Intern (30 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in :

  • Assisting in recruiting, training, and assignment of Election Protection volunteers  
  • Assisting in election protection organizing for elections  
  • Posting social media content on various platforms  
  • Developing voting rights messaging and content for public education  
  • Assist with tech for Zoom meetings and webinars for coalition calls and member recruitment  

California Policy Intern (40 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:

  • Support and promote all of our policy efforts in your community and on campus, including on topics related to voting & elections. 
  • Build skills in effective research and external outreach; learn about our key priorities to create a more accountable government in California 

California Communications Intern (40 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:

  • Keep our members and the public engaged in our efforts to strengthen our democracy 
  • Create website and social media content, including blog posts, graphics, one-pagers, videos, or other content types 
  • Help manage social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram 
  • Build skills in effective external outreach; learn about our key priorities to create a more accountable government in California 

Colorado Democracy Intern (20 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:

  • Support our 2024 voter protection field program, which may include supporting volunteers virtually and in person. 
  • Conduct policy research in anticipation of the 2025 legislative session. 
  • Assist in coordinating member outreach, including events, emails, and social media 
  • Build skills in effective research and external outreach; learn about our key priorities to create a more accountable government in Colorado 
  • Occasionally staff in-person events, including our September 25th fundraiser and tabling opportunities during the voting period (late October through Election Day). At these events, have direct conversations with Coloradans about our work with a goal of driving them to action on our campaigns. 

Michigan Membership Engagement Intern (30 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:

  • assist in engaging  membership through email and phonebanks to grow volunteer capacity 
  • assist in election protection organizing for elections 
  • create and drive engagement for youth voters in 2024 elections 
  • assist in building social media presence 
  • aid in election protection webinars and trainings 
  • create voting rights and information resources 

New York Organizing Intern (20 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in :

  • Assist in educating and engaging voters so they are informed about the 2024 elections and any changes to the voting process. This includes developing educational materials and social media materials, working with local organizations to provide elections support, and/or mobilizing our members;  
  • Support election protection efforts to recruit, train and manage volunteers across the state. This includes supporting local election protection partners which may include leading a volunteer team of non-partisan poll monitors;  
  • Assist in organizing and promoting events including virtual townhalls, policy forums and rallies.  

 

Indiana Volunteer and Membership Engagement Intern (20 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in :

  • assist in engaging CCIN membership to grow volunteer capacity  
  • assist in election protection organizing for the 2024 election  
  • create and drive engagement for youth voters in 2024 election  
  • assist in building CCIN social media presence  
  • aid in election protection webinars and trainings  
  • create voting rights and information resources  

 

Rhode Island Outreach and Engagement Intern (30 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in: 

  • Recruiting and training Election Protection volunteers for the General Election in November. 
  • Supporting other nonpartisan election-related efforts, such as voter registration, voter education, GOTV (get out the vote) activities, National Voter Education Week, and/or poll worker recruitment. 
  • Mobilizing activists and community members in support of our policy priorities, using digital and in-person organizing tools and techniques. 
  • Creating website, newsletter, and social media content, including blog posts, graphics, one-pagers, training materials, videos, or other content types. 
  • Organizing and promoting in-person, hybrid, and virtual events such as webinars, rallies, trainings, press conferences, community presentations, and/or educational sessions. 
  • Promoting the organization’s work at community events. 

 

New Mexico Policy & Advocacy Intern (30 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:

  • Assist with grassroots activities during the summer outreach season 
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment, training, and manage for CCNM’s election protection program 
  • Assist in policy advocacy during the New Mexico legislature’s interim session 
  • Generate content for social media 

 

Florida voting and elections intern (20 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:

  • Assist with research and data analysis to support election protection, including to identify priority precincts across the state 
  • Assisting and growing and engaging volunteer capacity 
  • Assisting in election protection organizing for elections 
  • Posting social media content on various platforms 
  • Aid in election protection webinars and trainings 

 

Nebraska Advocacy Intern (30 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:

  • Support election protection efforts to recruit, train and manage volunteers across the state. This includes supporting local election protection partners; 
  • Assist with research, social media, and other written outreach particularly around voting rights and election reform; 
  • Assist in organizing and promoting events including virtual townhalls, policy forums and rallies; 
  • Assist in educating and engaging voters so they are informed about the 2024 elections and any changes to the voting process. This includes developing educational materials and social media materials, working with local organizations to provide elections support, and/or mobilizing our members. 

 

National Digital Intern (20 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in: 

  • Drafting email, web, and/or SMS content 
  • Track and analyze data then make strategic recommendations based on findings 
  • Brainstorm and implement A/B tests 
  • Researching up-and-coming digital advocacy tactics and presenting them to the Digital Campaigns Manager  
  • Digital production in our eCRM, ActionNetwork 

 

New York Research and Advocacy Intern (20 hours/pay period)

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:

  • Assist in educating and engaging voters so they are informed about the 2024 elections and NY and NYC ballot measures. This includes developing educational materials and social media materials, working with local organizations to provide educational support, and/or mobilizing our members;  
  • Assist with research, social media, and other written outreach particularly around NY and NYC ballot measures;  
  • Assist in organizing and promoting events including virtual townhalls, policy forums and rallies.  

 

Classification: This position is classified as temporary and therefore not included in the union-represented collective bargaining unit.
