Hoy, Common Cause y la Prison Policy Initiative instaron a la Oficina del Censo de los Estados Unidos a cambiar la forma en que cuenta las poblaciones carcelarias cada década. El uso que hace la Oficina de la privacidad diferencial, la infusión intencional de información inexacta en los datos de población, crea recuentos incorrectos innecesarios en los datos que utilizan los funcionarios estatales y locales para la redistribución de distritos.
