Gerrymandering reduces competition in Pennsylvania legislative elections.
The Herald in Sharon, Pennsylvania reports that 107 candidates running for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, which has 203 seats, will face no opponent in this year’s election. Nine incumbents in the 25 State Senate seats that are up for grabs will also face no opposition and very few of the remaining 16 contests are likely to be competitive.
