ATLANTA — Common Cause Georgia urges voters to take advantage of the final day of early voting, tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 4, after learning of numerous instances where voters haven’t yet received requested absentee ballots.
Common Cause Georgia is concerned about delays in processing absentee voting requests, with 269 “unissued” absentee ballots requests. In addition, the nonpartisan Election Protection Coalition has heard from multiple voters who have reported their absentee ballots never arrived.
Voters can choose to vote in-person during early voting or on Election Day, even if they requested an absentee ballot. (but did not turn it in).
“More than two million Georgians have already come out to vote and answer the call to be the voice of democracy,” said Aunna Dennis, Common Cause Georgia’s executive director. “But we are hearing some voters that wanted to vote by mail have yet to receive their ballots. Don’t lose out on your chance to make your voice heard, and plan to take advantage of the final day of early voting on Friday or vote in-person on Election Day.”
Early voting sites will be open through 5 p.m. Friday, though some counties may offer voting hours beyond that. Voters can cast their ballot at any early voting site in their county during early voting, and can look up locations here.
More than two million of Georgia voters have already cast ballots in this year’s election,
After early voting ends Friday, Georgia voters can then vote in-person from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8 Election Day.
More information about absentee voting:
- Absentee ballots must be signed. Those mailed in need to be received by 7 p.m. Nov. 8, so Common Cause Georgia suggests using drop boxes or hand-delivering to a county registrar’s office.
- Voters can check the status of their ballot and find other information on the state’s “My Voter Page.”
- If a voter’s absentee ballot is rejected, they should contact their county registrar to get more information and cure the rejection. One of the most common reasons an absentee ballot is rejected is because it has not been properly signed.
