Georgia’s Upcoming Runoff Elections
Secretary of State Raffensperger announced the other day that all of the runoff races scheduled for December have been moved to January — but that isn’t accurate.
We found out shortly thereafter that most of those races would proceed as scheduled, and that many voters would still have the opportunity to vote in a December election as well.
Let’s be clear — there is no place for misinformation, even accidental, in our elections. It’s essential that voters know when elections will be held.
Read on for more information about our state’s upcoming elections — then, use our sharing tools to spread the word to your friends and family members.
The following elections will still be held on December 1st:
- District Attorney (Athens-Clarke and Oconee Counties)
- State Senate (District 39 Special Democratic Primary, find your legislative district here)
- United States House of Representatives (District 5 Special Election Runoff, find your congressional district here)
- Polk County Commission (Special Election)
It’s too late to register to vote for the December 1st local and state runoffs, but if you’re eligible to vote in at least one of these races, you can request an absentee ballot here.
The following elections will be held on January 5th:
- Public Service Commission (statewide)
- United States Senate (statewide, both Senator Loeffler and Senator Perdue are up for re-election)
There is still time to register to vote for the January 5th Senate runoff elections — the deadline isn’t until December 7th. Register to vote here.
It’s critically important that Georgians know when our upcoming elections are. Share this information with your friends, family, and neighbors so that they can prepare to cast their ballots.
