Common Cause GA calls for immediate resignation of Reps Allen, Carter, Clyde, Greene, Hice and Loudermilk

In the wake of Wednesday’s insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Common Cause Georgia is calling for the immediate resignation of Representatives Rick W. Allen, Earl L. "Buddy" Carter, Andrew S. Clyde, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Jody B. Hice and Barry Loudermilk after they voted to overturn the will of the people, failed to accept the results of the 2020 presidential election, and played a clear role in spreading disinformation around the election, leading to the violence.

ELECTION UPDATE: Georgia elections include numerous failsafe systems

Our November 3rd ballots were counted three times, and the outcome was still the same. It’s time for the people who have been questioning that outcome to stop spreading the seeds of doubt, and to stop fundraising on the doubts they have sowed.

Common Cause Georgia Statement on Voter Challenges

We are particularly mindful of votes cast by members of our military, military families and the diplomatic corps: these are people serving our country who maintain the right to vote even if they are not presently living in Georgia. In this important election, every valid vote must be counted – even if it has been challenged, and even if results take days to compile.

Georgia’s voters have made their decision. It’s time to honor that decision. It’s also time to ensure that our county elections officials have the resources they need to fulfill their responsibilities in the next two elections.

Statement of Aunna Dennis, Executive Director of Common Cause Georgia — November 10, 2020

A record number of Georgia’s voters participated in this election, despite COVID 19. Just as in previous elections, the decisions of ‘The People’ must be respected and accepted. We need to move forward and ensure that the runoffs on December 1 and January 5 go as smoothly as possible.

Federal District Court Justice Amy Totenberg today issued a ruling requiring the Georgia Secretary of State and local elections officials to ensure that polling places use paper backups of electronic poll books in the event of electronic pollbook failure. "Judge Totenberg’s order is a victory for voters and for the integrity of our elections. Common Cause Georgia has been working to improve our elections infrastructure for years...."
