Common Cause Supports Redistricting Reform Bill
Sen. Elena Parent (D-Atlanta) unveiled SB 491, which provides transparency and accountability procedures for redistricting Georgia's General Assembly and congressional districts after the 2020 Census. Nonpartisan Voting Rights Groups Meet with Sec. Raffensperger to Discuss Election Preparedness

Common Cause Lauds Court’s Decision in Historic Georgia Election Security Case
Today United States District Court Judge Amy Totenberg issued a preliminary injunction in Curling v. Raffensperger preventing the state of Georgia from continuing to use its insecure paperless voting machines in elections after 2019. The lawsuit challenged the state’s use of the Accuvote TS voting machine. Governor Brian Kemp today signed into law HB 392, which has a provision requiring Georgia’s secretary of state to take steps to shore up the security of the state’s voter registration database. Common Cause Calls Out State’s Misleading Statement on Costs of Hand-Marked Paper Ballots vs Electronic Ballot Marking Devices
In a misleading statement released yesterday, Georgia Secretary of State (SOS) Brad Raffensperger claimed that the cost of deploying a voting system relying on hand-marked paper ballots and ballot marking devices for disability access would exceed the cost of deploying only electronic ballot marking devices for every voting station.

Common Cause Georgia Files Complaint Against Georgia State Charter School Commission
Common Cause Georgia today filed a complaint with the state's Inspector General to investigate recently revealed payments and offers of payments by a state vendor to state employees, as well as the same state vendor's transparency law violations. We also urge the state employee who accepted these payments to return them immediately.
