Common Cause Georgia Statement on “Cop City” Petition

Common Cause Georgia supports the city of Atlanta accepting and processing the signatures of the more than 104,000 people. Those registered voters who sign it will now also be considered active voters.

ATLANTA — The following is a statement from Aunna Dennis, Common Cause Georgia’s executive director, regarding the city of Atlanta’s proposal to verify signatures of the more than 104,000 signatures collected by opponents to the “Cop City” training facility project.

“Common Cause Georgia supports the city of Atlanta accepting and processing the signatures of the more than 104,000 people who initiated action by signing the Cop City petition. Importantly, this will mean those people  taking part in this citizen-initiated process to call for change are now considered active voters, and this will help preserve their freedom to vote as we approach an important election year.”
