ATLANTA — Common Cause Georgia urges voters to take advantage of the final day, tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 2, of early voting in the U.S. Senate runoff election.
Long lines are likely, given how the voting period was compressed to just four weeks for this run-off election by the anti-voter measures passed by the state legislature, said Aunna Dennis, Common Cause Georgia’s executive director.
“I know how much Georgians value their right to vote, and I encourage everyone to get out there and vote even if it means waiting in a line,” Dennis said. “Your vote could be the one that determines the direction of our state.”
Registered voters can choose to cast their ballot in-person during early voting or on Election Day, even if they requested an absentee ballot (but did not turn it in).
Early voting sites will be open through 5 p.m. Friday, though some counties may offer voting hours beyond that. Voters can cast their ballot at any early voting site in their county during early voting, and can look up locations here.
After early voting ends Friday, Georgia voters can then vote in-person from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec 6, Election Day.
“Make sure your voice is heard at the ballot box in this run-off election by planning on voting in these final days of the run-off election,” Dennis said. “And don’t stop there. Encourage everyone around you to remember to flex those democracy muscles and vote.”
Any absentee ballots must be received by the time polls close on Tuesday, Election Day, at 7 p.m. Common Cause Georgia suggests that voters instead choose to vote in-person. If voters want to drop off their signed ballots, they can do so at secure drop boxes or their county registrar’s office. Those locations can be looked up here.
