U.S. District Judge Amy Totenberg this morning rejected Secretary of State Kemp’s motion to dismiss the Curling v. Kemp lawsuit. Judge Totenberg scheduled a hearing for oral arguments on September 17, 2018 at 11 a.m.

“Common Cause Georgia is pleased that the court decided there is enough evidence to warrant oral arguments in this case,” said Sara Henderson, executive director of Common Cause Georgia. “We want paper ballots used as an auditable record of votes in Georgia’s polling places. That’s the reason we joined this lawsuit with an amicus brief.”

Georgia is one of the few states in the nation that still uses digital voting machines. Digital voting systems do not offer paper back up and are easily hacked or manipulated.
“Common Cause Georgia urges Brian Kemp to resign his secretary of state duties. With the constant distractions of his campaign and lawsuits, we cannot rely on him to be a full-time constitutional officer of Georgia. Georgia voters deserve better.”
