Tell Springfield: We Need Stronger Ethics Laws

Michael Madigan’s corruption trial showed how broken Illinois politics has become. For too long, weak ethics laws and a culture of corruption have let politicians put themselves ahead of the people.

We The People demand immediate action to strengthen Illinois’ ethics laws, including:

– Expanding the power of the Legislative Inspector General to investigate corruption.

– Closing lobbying loopholes that allow special interests to shape policy behind closed doors.

– Strengthening conflict of interest rules so lawmakers can’t vote on issues that benefit them personally.

– Fixing campaign finance laws so campaign funds can’t be misused.
Illinoisans deserve a government that serves the public, not corrupt politicians.

Michael Madigan’s corruption trial exposed everything that’s broken in Illinois politics. He built a system where power was traded for favors, where corruption was ignored, and where politicians could get rich while the public suffered. His conviction is a step toward accountability, but it does nothing to fix the system that allowed him to thrive.

Illinois lawmakers promised to fix corruption. They said ethics reform was just getting started. But since 2021, nothing has changed. The laws are still weak, the loopholes are still open, and the system is still rigged.

Tell lawmakers: Illinois deserves better. Pass real ethics reform now.
