On National Voter Registration Day, Common Cause Illinois is encouraging voters to check their registrations.  

Voters who are not sure if they are registered can check their registration here.  

Eligible voters who are not registered have options: 

• Online registration is available until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 20. Voters need a valid Illinois driver’s license or state ID to register online. 

• Voters can register to vote in person when they request a new or updated driver’s license or state ID at a Secretary of State facility. Common Cause Illinois is proud to have been part of the coalition that made automatic voter registration possible in Illinois and encourages voters to take advantage of this convenient option.  

• Voters can register by mail either to their local election jurisdiction or to the State Board of Elections. The application must be postmarked by Tuesday, October 8. The application can be found here.  

• Voters can register and vote in person at the same time during the early vote and on Election Day. More information can be found here.  

Common Cause Illinois is part of the largest nonpartisan election protection program, which runs the 866-OUR-VOTE hotline and protectthevote.net website. If you have issues registering to vote or voting early, call or text the hotline to connect with a nonpartisan, trained expert.
