When Common Cause Indiana takes action, we make a real difference for democracy.
With the support of our dedicated members, we have shown up time and time again to protect Hoosiers’ rights. We will continue to make our government here in Indiana more open, honest, and accountable. Check out some of our most impactful victories:

Going to Court to Protect Democracy
When the Indiana General Assembly passes laws that violate federal law voting laws or the Constitution, Common Cause Indiana takes them to court. Our litigation has stopped illegal purges from the voting rolls and stopped counties from rejecting ballots without giving voters a chance to address the problems that could disenfranchise them. We’ve also won lawsuits that brought back satellite early voting to Marion County and ended the undemocratic process of slating judicial candidates in Marion County.
Standing Up for Voters at the State House
Common Cause Indiana is a founder and leader of the All IN for Democracy coalition, a diverse group of 25 organizations dedicated to defending democracy in the Hoosier state. We’re on the front lines of voting rights and election issues at the State House and have stopped efforts to make school board elections partisan in Indiana and to backslide on the issue of felony disenfranchisement.
For 50 years Common Cause Indiana has been working across our state for a stronger democracy that puts average Hoosiers in charge.
