Democracy Advocates to Hold Public Meeting in Anderson RE: Redistricting Reform

ANDERSON, IN — On Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. EST, Common Cause Indiana, The League of Women Voters of Indiana, Indiana Local Redistricting and the Anderson branch of the NAACP will convene with members of the Anderson community to discuss redistricting and address questions about the lawsuit filed against the Anderson Common Council for the failure to redistrict during the 2020 redistricting cycle.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Today, Common Cause, the leading anti-gerrymandering group, published a report grading the redistricting process in all 50 states from the view of the community. The comprehensive report evaluates public access, outreach, and education in each state based on an analysis of more than 120 detailed surveys and more than 60 interviews.

Voting Rights Groups File Motion for Preliminary Injunction in Anderson Common Council Redistricting Lawsuit

INDIANAPOLIS — Today in federal court, Common Cause Indiana, the League of Women Voters of Indiana, and the Madison County NAACP filed a motion for a preliminary injunction in their lawsuit against Anderson, Indiana’s Common Council. The injunction was filed in response to the council’s failure to redistrict by the Dec. 31, 2022 deadline imposed by state law.
