Karen Hobert Flynn, President of Common Cause and a lifelong advocate for the common good, passed away on Friday, March 3rd.

Karen was a fearless, persistent advocate for a better democracy. She spent her entire life in public service, working for a principle that we will all keep striving for: that each of us matters, and that we all deserve a say in our future.

She served at every level of our organization, as an organizer on our National team, leading Common Cause’s Connecticut office, and eventually overseeing all of Common Cause’s work in the states. Karen took on the role of President in the heat of the 2016 election, leading us through a turbulent time for our nation while holding firm in defense of justice, integrity, and the rule of law.

We’re heartbroken by this loss, but we will honor Karen’s legacy through our continued commitment to achieving the democracy we all deserve.
