Americans have a right to peacefully protest. There is no place for violent protest in our democracy, especially when that violence attempts to block our governmental institutions from certifying our democratic election. Make no mistake, President Trump incited this violence in an attempt to subvert the will of the people in a fair, legal, and certified election. Incitement to overthrow the U.S. government is seditious conspiracy, a criminal offense. President Trump must be removed from office as soon as possible, indicted, and convicted. Every Republican must repudiate this act of domestic terrorism and certify the election immediately. Those who stormed the Capitol to subvert our democracy must be held accountable. Violence will not alter the outcome of this democratic election. President-elect Biden becomes President effective at noon on January 20. The rule of law must prevail.
