Thanks to Common Cause Georgia and its allies, Georgia passed a bill limiting lobbyist gifts to legislators for the first time in state history.

Just one year prior, a defiant speaker of the house railed against suggestions that gifts be limited, declaring that Georgia’s transparency laws were enough to keep elected officials honest.

Our grassroots efforts all over the state were enough to change his mind. The fight for ethics reform was the marquee issue of this session, and we walked away with a historic accomplishment.
