Today, for the first time in more than 25 years, the Maryland Board of Elections will be led by a new administrator. 

Jared DeMarinis, who previously served as the director of the candidacy and campaign finance division, was unanimously appointed to the position following the retirement of longtime administrator Linda H. Lamone. 

Statement from Joanne Antoine, executive director of Common Cause Maryland:

“We are grateful that the bipartisan Board chose a capable, experienced, accessible, and supportive leader to oversee our elections. It is encouraging that even in the hyper-partisan environment that surrounds our elections, the Board was able to come to a consensus in support of DeMarinis. 

“On behalf of all Marylanders, we send Lamone our heartfelt thanks for her 25 years of leadership.
