波士顿 — Massachusetts voters have until 8 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 8, to cast a ballot in person or return their post-marked mail ballot in the 2022 midterm election. As voters head to the polls, Common Cause Massachusetts is reminding voters that it may take more than one day for election officials to finalize results, especially with an increase in the number of ballots cast by mail.

“We want to remind voters that it takes extra time and care for our elected officials to accurately count every mail ballot and that’s why Election Day is not results day,” said 马萨诸塞州共同事业组织执行董事杰夫·福斯特 (Geoff Foster). “We want our elected officials to take the time they need to deliver accurate election results. Even if we don’t know the election winners when we go to bed, what matters most is making sure every voter’s ballot is counted accurately.”

Massachusetts is entering its first year with permanent vote-by-mail without excuse after it was used successfully during the 2020 election as a temporary solution to the COVID-19 pandemic. Common Cause Massachusetts, in partnership with the Election Modernization Coalition, a coalition of voting rights advocacy groups, helped pass vote-by-mail without excuse and other voting expansions in June.
