Meet Shannon…

I am an activist, environmentalist, and thrill seeker!

Born and raised in Michigan, I grew up in East Lansing, on Michigan State University’s campus (go green!). I was fortunate to be shaped by such a unique and diverse community.

I went to school for residential architecture, interior design, and manufacturing, which landed me work specializing in kitchen and bath design and project management. Despite my love for that work, I felt the need to make a bigger impact on the world and left my career to pursue something different.

That shift led me to become an active volunteer in the social and environmental justice spaces. I continue those efforts today as a board member and Vice President of Michigan Citizens for Water Conservation. I have been nominated for multiple “Environmentalist of the Year” awards in Michigan due to my work building relationships throughout the state and connecting the dots on issues that are often siloed.

I began my work with Common Cause in January 2022 as the Michigan Outreach & Engagement Organizer. In July of 2023, I was promoted to Outreach & Engagement Manager and I use my expertise to support voter engagement and policy advocacy throughout Michigan. I specialize in community engagement and resource and education opportunities.

You can use “she/her” or “they/them” pronouns for me!

Michigan voters wanted options. We should use them.

Michigan voters wanted options. We should use them.

Through multiple reforms, we have fought hard to make voting more accessible to more Michiganders. Please use these new options to have your voice heard before or on August 6.
