The following is a statement from Common Cause Michigan after the Michigan State Senate passed the Michigan Voting Rights Act today. The set of bills now move to the House for passage.  
 
Today’s Senate passage of the Michigan Voting Rights Act is an important first step to protecting the ballot for all eligible voters. This legislation will ensure that even as federal protections are eroded, no Michigander can be discriminated against at the ballot box. As we highlight National Voter Registration Day, World Democracy Day, and Constitution Day this week, this feels like an appropriate approach to securing our voting rights, said Quentin Turner, Executive Director for Common Cause Michigan.
