Voting Problems? Receive Nonpartisan Help from our Election Protection Hotline

Ahead of Tuesday’s primary election, Common Cause Minnesota is reminding voters and the press that voters can receive nonpartisan help if they run into voting problems while early voting, returning their mail ballot or on election day

Ahead of Tuesday’s primary election, Common Cause Minnesota is reminding voters and the press that voters can receive nonpartisan help if they run into voting problems while early voting, returning their mail ballot or on election day.

The hotlines are staffed with trained, nonpartisan experts to support voters in each step of the voting process, from registration to absentee and early voting, to casting a vote at the polls, and overcoming obstacles to their participation. Election protection helps voters ensure their vote is counted through many resources. The following numbers are active for the following languages:

ENGLISH 866-OUR-VOTE 866-687-8683

SPANISH/ENGLISH 888-VE-Y-VOTA 888-839-8682

ASIAN LANGUAGES/ENGLISH 888-API-VOTE 888-274-8683

ARABIC/ENGLISH 844-YALLA-US 844-925-5287

Common Cause Minnesota is asking Minnesotans to check their voter registration in advance making sure it is updated, then check with 3 family members or friends and have them do the same as part of their “Me + 3” campaign. Then turn out and vote your voice in the primary election.

Remember, Election Day it is not results day, despite the work that media organizations do to “call” various elections. It is important to have all ballots counted and certified. Just because organizations track votes and make calls, that does not mean it is the official result. Results are not official until the certification process is completed and the state or county canvassing board declares the winner.

“The best way to hold power accountable is to vote your voice, which is why Common Cause Minnesota’s Me + 3 campaign asks Minnesotans to check your registration, have three others check theirs, and then everyone make a plan to vote in the primary election. If you run into problems, call or text 866-OUR-VOTE.  Our election workers and volunteers who work tirelessly to help make our democracy run smoothly are true democracy champions,” said Annastacia Belladonna-Carrera, Executive Director of Common Cause Minnesota.
