Our Impact
With the support of our dedicated members, democracy partners and allies, we have shown up in solidarity time and time again to protect our Minnesotans’ rights. We will continue to make our government here in Minnesota more open, honest, and accountable to us, not politicians, political parties or special interests.

Fighting for Fair Redistricting
In 2023, Common Cause MN and our partners joined a lawsuit to ensure that people of color, and other disenfranchised Minnesotans, are represented during the state’s redistricting process. This legal intervention was necessary to give our diverse communities a voice in the once-in-a-decade redistricting cycle, which has a direct impact on the social, economic, and political status of Minnesota’s growing BIPOC communities. We fight to make sure all Minnesotans are heard and have a say.
Mobilizing Election Protection Volunteers
Each election year, Common Cause MN mobilizes nonpartisan volunteers across the state to serve as a first line of defense for voters – in the field and online. These volunteers answer voters’ questions at polling places, make sure that we know our rights, and report any attempts to intimidate or obstruct voters. We also work to inoculate against disinformation and cyber voter suppression. Our program has helped countless Minnesotans cast their ballot and have it counted.
