Role: Nebraska Research Intern
Location: Nebraska Hybrid
Start Date: February 1st-April15th
Reports to: Nebraska Executive Director
Details: This is a part-time internship (10 hours/week), starting Thursday, February 1st and ending Monday, April 15th
Essential functions: Common Cause Nebraska is seeking an intern who will assist with and learn about our research and communications work. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a commitment to a fair and transparent democracy, and who is interested in learning more about government affairs and the legislative process.
Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:
- Assist the Executive Director in researching and organizing data related to democracy issues in Nebraska, including campaign finance, voting rights, redistricting, and other topics
- Create materials related to democracy issues for the public and policymakers
- Aid in outreach to Nebraska Common Cause members
- Build skills in effective research and strong external communications; learn about democracy reform
Qualifications
You will be a good fit for this internship if you have:
- A passion for learning about elections, government affairs, and the legislative process
- A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner
- A self-driven attitude
- A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail
- A willingness to build your writing and listening skills
- A willingness to learn new skills
Compensation: $1,785 for the 10.5 weeks paid in 5 equal twice monthly payments on the 15th and last day of the month.
Classification: This position is classified as temporary and therefore not included in the union-represented collective bargaining unit.
