The following is a statement from Common Cause Nebraska Executive Director Gavin Geis after a bill that would return Nebraska to a “winner-take-all” system for awarding Electoral College votes passed the first floor vote.  
 
“Our legislature views itself as a unique leader. It needs to maintain that mindset when it comes to awarding Electoral College votes in Nebraska. Right now, Nebraska is a leader, and all Nebraskans appreciate our current elevated standing in presidential elections. Changing the current system rips that all away. Don’t silence the voice of Nebraskans in deciding presidents to score political points that no one is even asking for,” said Gavin Geis, Common Cause Nebraska Executive Director.
