For far too long, New Mexico politicians have twisted the process of redrawing our voting maps into a divisive and partisan spectacle. Our elections should represent the will of the people, and our electoral districts should be drawn to maximize the voices of everyone in our communities.

New Mexicans deserve a fair mapmaking process led by an Independent Redistricting Commission – a nonpartisan group of citizens charged with drawing representative, impartial districts. This independent body should have the final say on which maps are adopted and take politicians out of the process.

Fair redistricting ensures that the will of the voters is actually reflected in government, and helps us have more competitive elections, less incumbent protections, communities of interest preserved, and ensures our votes are meaningful.
