Support the Restoration of Voting Rights in New York
In the past year, we modernized the way New Yorkers vote. While we achieved tremendous progress, there is still room for more positive change. The right to vote is inherent to our democracy and should not be taken away. I urge you to join the restoration of voting rights movement.
New York has a chance to lead the way and put an end to the racist legacy of felony disenfranchisement laws, making permanent the restoration of voting rights for justice-involved individuals in New York. Passing a post-incarceration rights restoration bill must be a legislative priority and would send a powerful message at the national level.
Felony disenfranchisement laws, laws that restrict the voting rights of people with felony convictions, have stripped away voting rights from communities for far too long. Gaining prominence after the Civil War, felony disenfranchisement laws have been disproportionately impacting communities of color.
Voting is an inherent right, and it should not be taken away. Permanently restoring voting rights for justice-involved individuals in New York is paramount. Put an end to the racist legacy of felony disenfranchisement laws and take part in the restoration of voting rights movement.
