Vote-By-Mail, Early Voting, & Expanding Voting Options

Our democracy works best when every voter can cast their ballot and be heard. Common Cause is making sure voters have options on how to cast a ballot.

In our democracy, our vote is our voice and every voter across the country deserves a say in the people and policies that impact their lives. That is why we are advocating for proven and secure ways to make voting more convenient for eligible Americans, including:

  • Vote-by-Mail: Letting eligible voters send in their ballots via the USPS,
  • Early Voting: Giving voters extra days before Election Day to cast their ballot,
  • Voting Dropboxes: Allowing voters to place their ballots in secure local receptacles ahead of Election Day.

Reforms like these make elections more accessible while keeping them fair and safe.

Extremists at every level of government are coming after our most fundamental and sacred right – our right to vote.

We won’t stand by while they gut our rights and block us from the ballot to steal more power for themselves.

Common Cause/NY Applauds Senate For Passing Vote by Mail, Assembly Advances the Bill

"Common Cause/NY applauds the New York State Senate for passing this hugely important pro-voter reform that will establish a universal vote by mail system, and we're encouraged to see the Assembly advancing the bill as well. Allowing New Yorkers to vote by mail increases voter turnout in harder to reach populations, including young people and voters of color. We know vote by mail works: New York did it successfully in 2020 when faced with the COVID-19 pandemic. As a non-partisan, voting rights organization with decades of experience, Common...
