New York’s Voting Systems and Elections Administration

Modernizing our elections makes them secure and efficient, saving New Yorkers money and safeguarding our votes.

In order for our government to function with legitimacy, Americans must trust in the accuracy of our elections. The issue of modernizing election administration continues to be a perennial topic in New York.

Safeguarding our elections
Common Cause New York is fighting to preserve the tremendous progress New York has made in reforming our antiquated elections in 2019. In 2024 we will:

Build on our wins and make sure voting reforms like Online Voter Registration and Automatic Voter Registration are implemented in a timely fashion.
Ensure local Boards of Elections have the resources they need to administer elections and secure state funding for election administration.
Reform the Boards of Elections as outlined in our 2021 report
Fight against the certification of faulty voting machines like the ES&S ExpressVote XL through our lawsuit

In doing so, New York will protect our hard earned gains and continue to overhaul election administration around the state.
