Judicial Public Financing

Judges shouldn't have to raise campaign money from special interests

In 2002, North Carolina became the first state in the nation to enact public campaign financing for our judicial elections. The program dramatically reduced the amount of special-interest cash in our state court elections and allowed judicial candidates to spend more time reaching out to voters, instead of wealthy donors.

But in 2013, the legislature suddenly repealed this highly successfully program, going against the will of North Carolina voters and the judicial community.
