At the Legislative Building in Raleigh, North Carolinians protested the lame-duck legislature ramming through SB382. That bad bill shortchanges desperately needed hurricane relief for Western North Carolina. Instead, politicians are using the bill to grab power and hurt voters.

The Republican-controlled legislature voted to override the veto by Gov. Roy Cooper, pushing the bill into law. Pro-democracy advocates vowed to return in the coming 2025 session to shine a light on the legislature and hold lawmakers accountable to the people.
