Election Day is coming up this Tuesday, August 8, so we’re sharing these tools and tips for a smooth voting experience. Hundreds of thousands of Ohioans have already participated in early voting on Issue 1, the proposal to raise the threshold for signature collecting and passage of citizen-initiated constitutional amendments. 

Vote By Mail Deadlines

• If you are mailing your absentee ballot, it must be postmarked by Aug 7 and be received to your county Board of Elections by Aug 12.
• You can also drop off your absentee ballot to your county Board of Elections by 7:30 pm Aug 8. Voted ballots are NOT accepted at precinct polling places.
• You can track your absentee ballot ICI.
• You do not need a photo ID to vote by mail.

In-Person Early Vote

Stop by your county Board of Elections for in-person early vote on Issue 1. Be sure to bring your current Photo ID! There is no voting on the Monday before Election Day. 

• Aug. 2-4: 7:30 am to 7:30 pm
• Aug. 5: 8 am to 4 pm
• Aug. 6: 1 pm to 5 pm

Election Day – Tuesday August 8

Polling locations have moved for thousands of voters across the state. Before you leave your house to vote on August 8, check your polling location at voteohio.gov.

Photo ID Requirements

Ohio now requires a current form of photo identification to vote in person, whether that be early in person or on election day. Valid forms of photo ID include:

• Ohio driver’s license
• State of Ohio ID card
• Interim ID form issued by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles
• U.S. passport
• U.S. passport card
• U.S. military ID card
• Ohio National Guard ID card
• U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ID card
