Nonpartisan Pennsylvania Election Protection Coalition Provides Update on Trends at Polling Places Statewide

The coalition is staffing a toll-free hotline, 866-OUR-VOTE, with volunteer lawyers who are trained on election law. The coalition also has about 2,000 volunteer poll monitors as well as a Vote Guardian program specifically to help anyone who witnessed attempts to intimidate voters at the polls. More than 850 volunteers are looking for and responding to social media posts from Pennsylvania voters with questions or problems.

Statement of Voting Rights Advocates in Response to Pennsylvania Supreme Court Ruling

The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania ruled today that state law allows county bureaus of elections to set up drop boxes and satellite offices to accept mail and absentee ballots. The Court also found that, because of problems documented with the postal service, ballots that arrive by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 6, will be counted, provided there is no evidence that the ballots were mailed after Election Day.

Today, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed House Bill 2626, a cynical attempt to create voter confusion and make it harder for Pennsylvanians to cast their ballot in November.  Every eligible voter should be able to choose whether to cast their vote by mail or in person without fearing for their safety or wondering if their vote will be counted.
