Pennsylvania Election Protection Coalition Provided Resources and Aid to Voters
(Harrisburg, PA) November 6, 2019 – Yesterday, voters across the Commonwealth headed to the polls to cast their ballots and Pennsylvania’s Election Protection Coalition was there to address questions and provide assistance and assurance to all voters.
This year’s Election Protection efforts were particularly essential as several counties introduced new voting machines. The funding for new voting machines will help every county ensure that their voting process will be more fair, secure and accessible for all voters. In some ways, this election served as a test for the new machines before the 2020 elections, when Pennsylvania will be a key battleground in the presidential race. “These new voting machines have provided and will continue to provide Pennsylvanians with a newfound confidence that their ballot and their vote will be more secure,” said Alexa Grant, Program Advocate for Common Cause Pennsylvania.
The Election Protection Coalition helps all voters, including disenfranchised groups, gain access to the polls and overcome obstacles to voting. In 2020, our efforts will continue with a dedicated team of trained legal and grassroots volunteers ready to assist in all 67 counties in both the primary and the general election.
Common Cause Pennsylvania’s partners in the Election Protection Coalition include Pennsylvania Voice, ACLU of Pennsylvania, League of Women Voters Pennsylvania, Fair Election Center, The Lawyers Committee, All Voting is Local, and The University of Pittsburgh Institute for Cyber Law, Policy and Security.
The 2020 election is fast approaching and the Election Protection Coalition is working diligently to be prepared to ensure voters are protected and their votes secured in order to make their voices heard locally and in Harrisburg and Washington.
