Common Cause Pennsylvania Responds to Gov. Wolf’s Election Proposals

NOTE: Early today, Governor Tom Wolf announced a series of voting proposals that the state legislature should take immediate action on to ensure safe and accessible elections.

Statement from Suzanne Almeida, Interim Executive Director of Common Cause Pennsylvania

Elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, and Common Cause Pennsylvania is dedicated to ensuring that every vote counts and every voice is heard. Chúng tôi applaud Governor Wolf and his call for these important election reform measures, but we need action to protect our election in November. We know that the eyes of the nation will be on Pennsylvania this fall. Given all that is at stake in this election – from a contentious presidential election to the need to protect the health and safety of Pennsylvanians as they cast their votes —  it’s more imperative than ever that voters have every option available to them to vote in a safe, secure and accessible manner.

It is critical that the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Governor, advocates and county elections officials work together to ensure that no Pennsylvania voter is disenfranchised in the November election. We know that our elected officials can come together and pass legislation that will increase voter access, just as they did with Act 12 during the Primary. Elections are not a partisan issue, they’re a people issue, so let’s get to work for Pennsylvania voters.”
