Pennsylvania Reapportionment Commission Approves House and Senate Maps

This process is far from over, but we know that our democracy works best when We the People are represented by elected officials who share their values, lived experiences and priorities. Pennsylvanians deserve nothing less.

Statement of Common Cause Pennsylvania Executive Director Khalif Ali

The final House and Senate maps approved by the LRC this afternoon are the result of months of intensive work both by advocates and organizers across Pennsylvania and the members of the LRC.  Common Cause PA will be analyzing the maps closely to fully understand the impact on Pennsylvania’s communities – particularly Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian/Pacific Islander and other communities of color who have historically been sidelined or harmed in the redistricting process.

In the meantime, we want to thank every Pennsylvanian who took time out of their lives to participate in this process. We also want to thank the members of the LRC, particularly Chairman Nordenberg, for their incredibly important work. We commend the LRC for taking the historic step to count some incarcerated individuals in their homes rather than their cells.

This process is far from over, but we know that our democracy works best when We the People are represented by elected officials who share their values, lived experiences and priorities. Pennsylvanians deserve nothing less.
