Essential functions:
Common Cause Minnesota (CCMN) is seeking an Organizing Intern. This is an exciting opportunity
On the front lines of democracy to learn about and assist with volunteer management, social media management, build engaging voting rights content, and assist with voter education. This is a chance to learn and grow at a non-partisan grassroots organization dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy.
Skills you will build and work you will be involved in
- assist in engaging CCMN membership to grow volunteer capacity
- assist in planning our MN Alliance for Democracy Coalition Table
- aid in planning/hosting our engagement events (mainly phone banks, webinars)
- assist in building CCMN social media presence
- support in drafting content for literature and website
- create voting rights and information resources
Qualifications
You will be a good fit for this internship if you have:
- A passion for learning about elections, government affairs, and the legislative process
- A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner
- A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail
- A willingness to build your writing and listening skills
- A willingness to learn new skills
Salary: $4,812.50 for the 11 weeks paid in 5 equal twice monthly payments on the 15th and last day of the month.
Classification: This position is classified as temporary and therefore not included in the union-represented collective bargaining unit.

Rhode Island Outreach & Engagement Intern
Role: Rhode Island Outreach & Engagement Intern

Details: This is a part-time internship (30 hours/pay period), starting Tuesday, July 1st and ending Monday, September 15th. The intern will need to have reliable access to Wi-Fi and a computer, and the intern must be located in Rhode Island for the duration of the internship.
Essential functions:
Common Cause (RI) is seeking an Outreach and Engagement Intern to work on issues related to voting and elections, democracy reform, civic education, and advocacy. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a commitment to a fair and transparent democracy, and who is interested in learning more about government affairs and the legislative process in Rhode Island. This intern will create engaging social media content, organize and attend community events, recruit and train volunteers, and work in collaborative spaces with various coalition partners. This is a chance to learn and develop new skills at a non-partisan grassroots organization dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy.
Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:
- Assist staff with a range of advocacy, programming, and communications activities, including:
- Mobilizing activists and community members in support of our policy priorities, using digital and in-person organizing tools and tactics.
- Developing a volunteer engagement program to build and sustain a nonpartisan pro-democracy movement.
- Creating website, newsletter, and social media content, including blog posts, graphics, one-pagers, training materials, videos, or other content types.
- Organizing and promoting in-person, hybrid, and virtual events such as webinars, rallies, trainings, press conferences, community presentations, and/or educational sessions.
- Supporting nonpartisan election-related efforts, such as voter registration, voter education, and preparation for the Civic Holidays (ex: National Voter Education Week).
- Promoting the organization’s work and educational resources at community events.
Qualifications
You will be a good fit for this internship if you have:
- An ability and willingness to work in a collaborative setting.
- An ability and willingness to work in a nonpartisan manner.
- An ability and willingness to represent the organization in a professional manner.
- An ability and willingness to work with individuals and groups from a variety of backgrounds.
- A desire to learn about elections, the legislative process, democracy reform, and nonpartisan advocacy.
- A desire to develop skills in digital and in-person organizing, volunteer recruitment and training, and community engagement.
- A desire and willingness to learn new skills while building upon existing organizational, time management, writing, listening, and communication skills.
- A familiarity or willingness to learn Google Workspace programs including Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Forms.
- A familiarity or willingness to learn digital communication and social media tools.
Compensation: $2,625 for the 11 weeks paid in 5 equal twice monthly payments on the 15th and last day of the month.
