Ang Tame the Gerrymander Coalition, including Common Cause Maryland, featured U.S. Rep. John Delaney, Maryland Del. Aisha Braveboy, and Common Cause National Redistricting Coordinator Dan Vicuna at a forum to discuss solutions to the problem of partisan gerrymandering. At the University of Maryland forum, Delaney discussed several electoral reforms he proposed in the Open Our Democracy Act. One of the reforms includes studying the use of national standards and criteria for redistricting in all 50 states. Braveboy provided first-hand insight into the problems of state legislators drawing their own and congressional boundaries. Vicuna detailed alternatives found in other states that can serve as alternative models for Maryland. See coverage of the event in the Capital Gazette and from the University of Maryland School of Public Policy.
