Today's vote continues a shameless, partisan-inspired campaign on behalf of secrecy and deception in politics and government. We urge the Senate to stop it.

Let me get this straight, the DGA has a right to call money raised by the Governor and spent on his behalf "independent?"

The social welfare organizations and other tax exempt groups that funneled hundreds of millions of dollars from anonymous donors into the 2012 presidential and congressional elections ran a charade (that) must not be repeated, Common Cause asserted today.

Simply put: today is a day of victory for common sense campaign disclosure laws and the people of California! A pair of Arizona non-profit groups that in 2012 funneled $15 million from anonymous donors into two California ballot initiative campaigns and were flushed out thanks to a complaint from California Common Cause agreed Thursday to pay $1 million in fines to the state.
